Blog 5

Personally, before I did the research provided by my professor, I had no idea what a personal learning network was. To me, it seems like its a group of educational help from friends, and acquaintances all around the world. Not only can it help you if you're in need of more information, but it can also give you a different insight. To form a PLN, I think it just starts with interaction with peers, teachers, and research.

I really liked the video, "A 7th Graders Personal Learning Environment" that the student made. It was very informative, and her science class seems like SO much fun! It seemed very helpful that all the websites she needed were right there in one place. After watching that presentation, I may make a Symbaloo account.

In a way, I sort of feel as if I have already started my PLN. I am on Twitter, as well as in Google Circles with my peers. Personal Learning Networks are very important, especially for college students. If you have people in your 'circle' it is easier to receive help. For example, most of my peers at school are in all of my classes, since I am in my core classes. This makes group projects, studying, and preparing for future classes easier. They allow you to know what to expect and you can learn together. It is also important to have professors in your PLN. Not only can they help you with the specific subject, they could also be your peers in the future, as well as possible references for jobs. I am excited to grow my PLN and teach my students how to create one when I begin teaching.

  1. Hannah,
I really enjoyed reading this post about you creating your PLN. You seem to really be interested in growing your PLN and did quality research on how to do that. Your post was well written and I can tell that you proof read your posts before posting them to the blog. Keep up the good work!
