Toy Story proof reading picture

I think peer editing is very important. I liked the way this video worded the peer editing definition. "Peer editing is working with someone your own age, working to improve, revise, and edit his/her writing." I think the importance of peer editing is revisions. Without the process, I think a lot of papers and research papers would not be nearly as well written. I know from personal experience that I would have not gotten as good of a grade without the help from my peers.
Peer editing in my definition is a peer giving a new perspective and understanding, in addition to fixing common errors. A downfall to it is when the editor has no prior knowledge of the topic being written about. They may not know how some of the words are spelt, or specific content in the paper. For example, if I were to peer edit a paper my roommate wrote about screen printing, I would not know the process, terminology, or  equipment used. On the other hand, a benefit of peer editing is the collaboration involved. I think peer editing is important for children especially, because they can easily learn new material in a different way than just lectures or a textbook.

  2. Hey Hannah,
Sweet post; it was well written and you made it very easy to read. The first thing I saw was your visual, it's hilarious as well as totally relevant to our week's assignment. The only grammar issue I saw was in your second paragraph, you wrote,
"...how some of the words are SPELT"
the past tense form of "to spell" is SPELLED, at least to the best of my knowledge. Besides that tiny mistake, you wrote a perfect post. I especially love that you thought about the subject a little harder and you pointed out the downfall of Peer Editing and you even gave your own evidence of your criticism towards that downfall. -Justine
